Oppo seems to be soon following a number of other Android manufacturers in producing folding smartphone products, aka foldable phones. The latest news circulated by a gadget leaker from China on Weibo social media stated that Oppo’s first folding phone will launch in December 2021. The leaker said the device codenamed “Peacock” will be dubbed “Oppo Fold”. Leaked specifications were also shared. Oppo Fold is said to be equipped with a screen with a flexible OLED panel of the low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) type.
The screen will be foldable with a folding scheme like closing a book, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Huawei Mate X2. In a stretched state, the Oppo Fold screen is said to have an 8-inch diagonal. The screen is said to have a resolution of up to 2,000 pixels and supports a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
In the camera sector, the Oppo Fold is rumored to be equipped with a rear camera with a 50 MP Sony IMX766 sensor. Meanwhile, Oppo’s first foldable smartphone selfie camera is said to have a 32 MP resolution.
The Oppo Fold kitchen runway is allegedly going to rely on Snapdragon 888. It is not yet known how much RAM and internal media capacity will be available on this phone. Other specs leaked include a 4,500 mAh battery with 65W fast charging support, as well as Android 12 OS with ColorOS 12 UI.
It should be noted, the schedule and specifications above are still in the form of leaks. Oppo itself has not provided official information about the planned presence of its first foldable phone line.
