LIST OF LAPTOPS THAT GET WINDOWS 11 UPDATES FOR FREE ON OCTOBER 5, 2021

Microsoft announced that it will start rolling out Windows 11 for users starting October 5, 2021. However, this rollout is not carried out simultaneously, but gradually until mid-2022.

Later, new devices that meet the requirements first will get the opportunity to upgrade to Windows 11. Only then, this operating system will be available to other devices in the weeks or months after October 5, 2021.

“Following the incredible learnings from Windows 10, we want to ensure that we provide you with the best possible experience,” said General Manager of Windows Marketing, Aaron Woodman.

Woodman further explained, eligible Windows 10 PC users will get a notification in Windows Update when Windows 11 is available to them.

“You can check if Windows 11 is ready for your device by going to Settings > Windows Update and selecting Check for Updates,” he continued.

As for the minimum standard, a PC that can run Windows 11 must have a 64-bit processor with a minimum speed of 1GHz and dual cores, then 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space.  For comparison, Windows 10 only needs 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space.

Another requirement that needs to be met to be able to get Windows is that the minimum laptop screen must be 9 inches in size with 720p HD resolution.

In addition, the computer must support UEFI, Secure Boot, and Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0, plus the graphics card must be compatible with the DirectX 12 or later application programming interface (API) with the WDDM 2.0 driver.

Although it has announced its ability to be able to use Android applications directly, it seems that in its launch on October 5, Windows 11 will not provide this feature.

Previews of the Android app on Windows 11 will be available to Windows Insiders in the coming months, suggesting that it will likely not roll out to all users.

Meanwhile, if the user’s PC is completely incompatible with Windows 11, Microsoft will still support Windows 10 until October 14, 2025.

However, it is not yet known how major Microsoft updates will be released for Windows 10 over the next four years.

In its virtual launch, Microsoft also briefly demonstrated the TikTok application running on Windows 11. In its appearance, the Microsoft Store also lists Ring, Yahoo, Uber, and other applications.

The Microsoft Store displays several categories, such as movie recommendations from Disney+, Microsoft 365, Android Apps, game collections, to Essential Apps.

In the Android Apps section, Microsoft displays a variety of Android applications through the Amazon Appstore.

However, it’s not clear how many devices are compatible with Android apps on Windows 11, as the hardware needs to support Intel Bridge technology.

Even so, the step of integrating Android apps directly into Windows is a significant change.
