Here’s How to Call and Video Call WhatsApp from a Laptop

WhatsApp has officially released voice calls and video calls via computers (laptops/desktops), for users who interact with the WhatsApp desktop application (Windows and Mac).
In the latest version, the voice call/video call icon will appear when users log in to the latest version of WhatsApp desktop starting today. To make a WhatsApp video call/voice call on a laptop/computer, here’s how:
Download the desktop WhatsApp application for Windows/Mac Select the contact you want to call in the desktop WhatsApp application. In the upper right corner, there is a new icon next to the Search button (magnifying glass icon). Select the “handphone” icon for voice calls, or select the “video recorder” icon for video calls.
When a user makes a call to another WhatsApp user, a small window will appear showing the call status.

The window contains various buttons, such as the button to start the video, mute (mute) the sound, to end the call. There is also a horizontal “three-dot” button that will bring up other call options.

When a call comes in, WhatsApp desktop users will be notified with a new pop-out window. The window displays options that allow the user to accept or reject voice and video calls. It looks similar to the mobile version.

Especially for video calls, WhatsApp can adjust the orientation of the screen display in a horizontal or vertical position. In addition, the call window on the desktop will be displayed at the very front.

It should be noted, support for voice calls / video calls using WhatsApp desktop is currently only for individual calls. Group calls are not yet supported.

WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption also confirms that it cannot listen to or read private calls made by users, because the voice and video calling features are end-to-end encrypted.
