From time to time, WhatsApp continues to add new features to its platform. The goal is none other than to improve the experience of WhatsApp users worldwide, which now number as many as two billion. Towards the end of 2021, WhatsApp is reportedly testing several new features, which are said to be releasing to the public in the near future. The leaks were mostly revealed by the WABetaInfo site, which often gave accurate leaks.
Here are some rumors about a new WhatsApp feature that is reportedly launching soon
1. Community, groups within groups
The first feature that WhatsApp is reportedly preparing is Community. This feature allows users to create groups within groups.
The goal is to make it easier for group members to discuss specific topics. For example, a member in “group A” wants to talk about “project A”. They can create a Community that specifically talks about “project A” in the group. When finished, they can also create a new topic such as “project B” in the group.
Like conversations in groups or regular chatrooms, conversations made through this feature are also protected by end-to-end encryption.
2. Multi-device without internet
This feature has already started rolling out for beta users. Users can use one WhatsApp account on four devices at once such as PC/desktop, smartphone, and tablet. Specially, this feature or support allows WhatsApp accounts on the four devices to be used without relying on a cellphone with a registered number. Usually, when a user wants to use WhatsApp on another device such as a desktop or web application, the phone with the registered number must remain online.
3. Additional duration for automatic deletion of messages
Last year, WhatsApp released an auto-delete message feature. However, the time option is still very limited, namely new messages will be automatically deleted after 7 days of sending. Later, there will be two time options that appear, namely 90 days and 24 hours.
4. Hide last seen for certain contacts
For some people, activating last seen mode gives a sense of calm because they feel that their privacy is more awake. However, currently the option to disable last seen will apply to all contacts at once. So far, users have not been able to select only certain contacts. according to
the latest leak, WhatsApp is preparing an option for last seen settings so that it can be applied to certain contacts only. There are several options available, namely everyone, my contacts, and my contacts except.
5. Reaction
Reportedly, WhatsApp is preparing a feature that allows users to be able to react to chat in the form of emojis. This feature is more or less similar to the reaction in Facebook Messenger. Once released, users simply tap and hold on the desired chat. Later, several emojis will appear that can be used to give reactions. The given emoji and their number will appear below the chat.
6. Check the voice note before sending
So far, users can only send voice notes directly without being able to check first. In fact, it could be that the message you want to convey is wrong or not quite right. Well, to minimize errors after sending, WhatsApp will reportedly launch a new user interface (UI) that allows users to check voice notes before sending them. When checked, a play button will appear halfway between the trash icon (left) to delete the recording and the arrow buttons (right) to send a message. So, if a user fails to send a voice note, they can throw it away by clicking the trash icon.
7. New design contact info
Contact Info is a menu that displays personal or WhatsApp group contact information. This info is displayed when the user clicks on the name field at the top of the screen. Reportedly, WhatsApp is preparing a new layout for Contact Info. In the new display, there will be additional chat, audio, and video menus. Below that will be followed by a menu of media, documents, and links. It looks almost the same as the Business Info in the WhatsApp Business account. The illustration is like the picture above.
8. Warning if emoji can’t be opened
As previously written, WhatsApp has prepared a reaction feature in the form of emojis. However, if the emoji cannot be opened for one reason or another, such as an application version that has not been updated or there are other problems, then WhatsApp will give a warning. Some of the above features have already been rolled out to a handful of beta users. But it is not yet known when WhatsApp will roll it out to the public at large.
