After being announced at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) last June, iOS 15 can now be tested by a number of compatible iPhone users.
As the successor of iOS 14, iOS 15 comes with a number of changes to the improvement of new features.
Some of these include the ability to share FaceTime video call links, the presence of a Live Text feature that can copy text from images, updates to the Apple Maps, Wallet, Weather, and Siri applications, and much more.
In full, here are 15 new features that are present in iOS 15, as summarized by KompasTekno from GadgetsNow, Tuesday (21/9/2021).
- New Look For Notifications
Apple changed the appearance of notifications in iOS 15. App icons now appear larger. Users can also add photos for contacts so that their faces will also appear in notifications.
- Can Track AirPods Pro And AirPods Max If Lost
iOS 15 users can now track the last location of their AirPods Pro or AirPods Max if they are lost. Through a bluetooth connection, users will be able to find out the whereabouts of their AirPods with the help of voice.
- Focus Up
By using Focus Up, users can sort incoming notifications, such as phone calls, SMS, e-mails, and others, based on the Focus profile that is currently in use.
Users can pre-set various types of notifications that can be displayed or rejected on each Focus profile.
For example, a user is activating the Focus profile in “Personal” mode. In this profile, the user has set not to receive notifications from applications related to work.
If Focus Mode is enabled, then this mode will also be automatically applied to the iPad or Apple Watch device that is connected to the user’s iPhone.
- Safari New Look
Safari now has a minimized tab bar at the bottom of the screen. This tab can be shifted quickly if the user wants to open a number of other tabs.
Users can also create Tab Groups that can later be placed in folders, so that tabs can be accessed at a later time.
- Indian Dictionary
Now, iOS 15 users can use the bilingual dictionary in Indian. There are several translation features offered including Urdu–English, Urdu–English, Tamil–English, Telugu–English, and Gujarati–English.
- FaceTime For Windows And Android
FaceTime is a feature that allows non-iOS users to join a FaceTime video call in the iOS ecosystem. Prior to iOS 15, FaceTime could only be used on Apple devices.
Non-iOS users can now join FaceTime over the web. FaceTime for iOS users will be able to copy the link of the room, similar to the mechanism for sharing a virtual room on the Zoom platform.
The link can then be shared via the Messages app, Calendar, Mail, or other third-party apps.
Then, non-iOS users such as Android and Windows can join the FaceTime video conference via the latest versions of Chrome or Edge browsers by clicking on the invite link.
- Spatial Audio And Grid View
Di FaceTime, Apple turut membekali fitur lainnya untuk menunjang kegiatan video telekonferensi, seperti dukungan spatial audio untuk kualitas suara mumpuni dan meredam suara bising dari lingkungan sekitar.
In addition, there is also a Grid View feature, up to a portrait mode that can blur the video background.
- 3D View On Apple Maps
Not to forget, the Apple Maps navigation application also gets an update with a fresh 3D view and enriched location details, buildings, and various other places.
Then, there is also the Neaby Transit feature that allows iOS 15 users to navigate easily when using public transportation.
- Choice of Colors And Accessories For Memoji
iOS 15 users can now choose different colors such as changing the eye color for Memoji avatars. At least nine new Memoji stickers have been added including shaka (two fingers), waving, lights, and much more.
Not only that, users can also add other accessories such as glasses, heart icons, and more to their Memoji.
- Highlights And Photo Captions In Photos
In iOS 15, the Photos app can now create video highlights through the memories feature. Interestingly, the app can now also appear in Spotlight search.
Photo descriptions are also enriched such as information about the camera used, lens, shutter speed, file size, and more.
Users can also edit locations, write photo captions, and add other information.
- Live Text To Copy Text From Image
The Photos app on iOS 15 is updated with the Live Text feature, which allows users to capture text in camera shots using AI technology. This text can then be copied or translated.
Users can also take advantage of the Visual Look Up feature, to find out complete information about the description of the image taken.
- Store House and Car Keys In Wallet
Owners of digital keys for homes and vehicles can now use the Wallet application to store them. iPhone will automatically select the appropriate key for immediate use with NFC.
- SharePlay
The SharePlay feature allows users to listen to or watch various content through various third-party applications, such as Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max, TikTok, NBA, Twitch, and so on directly from FaceTime.
- Music On Slide Memory
Apple also made an update in the Memory section of the Photos app. In the Memory slideshow, users can now add songs thanks to the integration between the Photos app and Apple Music.
- Weather Display Changes According to Weather
The Weather app on iOS 15 is also now more interactive. The main view will now follow the user’s weather in the location he is in. If it rains, for example, the display will turn dark with an illustration of rain.
