Android 12 is getting ready to launch this September, after the Android 12 Beta 5 or the last beta for the OS version arrives. Beta 5 is also the last chance for developers to make sure their apps are ready to go.
Quoted from Tom’s Guide, a new leak courtesy of XDA Developers editor-in-chief Mishaal Rahman claims that Android 12 will officially launch on October 4. Here are some features that will be present in Android 12.
New UI Appearance
This new system features new and interesting materials, in terms of accent colors in the wallpaper, lighter themes, and a more unified appearance. Users can also change their own theme options, changes to notification shade and quick settings. Google calls this display “more intuitive and fun” and is a major visual change the company is introducing.
Improved Quick Settings
Android 12 lets you do a lot more from that menu, including accessing Google Pay and Home Controls for connected devices. In fact, Google claims that users can control almost the entire operating system with a single tap.
New Way of Launching Google Assistant
Google plans to add another method of activating its digital assistant apart from simply saying, “Hey, Google”. Google confirmed that long-pressing the home button can now launch Google Assistant.
Better Performance And Power Efficiency
Google claims to have reduced CPU time required for core system services by up to 22% and usage of large cores by system servers by up to 15%. That way the system becomes more efficient and the battery life will be longer.
Scrolling Screenshots
Android 12 supports scrolling screenshots, allowing users to capture more at once instead of having to use multiple images. Actually, this feature is also available on Android 12 Beta 3, but it still requires various improvements.
Privacy
Later on Android 12, Google will provide a new privacy dashboard where you can see what apps are accessing which permissions. The look refers to a bit of design from Google Fit for all things. Apart from monitoring what apps are doing from the privacy dashboard, you can also revoke permissions from there. Users can also share the approximate location with the app, instead of the exact location for the app just with the general location.
Remote Control
With Android 12, your phone will be able to double as a TV remote, at least for Android TV OS devices, including those that support Google TV, like Chromecast with Google TV.
Universal Device Search
This feature operates like Spotlight on iOS, letting you search for local apps, files, and other content. This is a feature that many third-party launchers have had in the past (app search in particular). Now it’s official on Pixel Launcher in Beta 5.
In addition, Android 12 will bring several updates to the Game Dashboard, copy the link text from the latest, to Live Space. On the Game Dashboard, Andorid 12 offers quick access to screen recording, screenshots, FPS meter, DND switch, shortcuts to YouTube streams, Play Games widget, and game optimization menu.
