The software company from the United States, Microsoft, has finally officially launched their latest operating system, namely Windows 11 which is the successor of Windows 10.
Microsoft officially announced Windows 11 on June 24, 2021. This latest operating system from Microsoft has received a lot of praise from the public for its more elegant and simple appearance, but still maintains a modern concept. Not only that, Windows 11 also provides many new features. Want to know what are its features? Here’s the explanation!
Windows 11 Features
- Appearance Interface (UI)
The most striking change from Windows 11 can be seen from the appearance of the interface. In this latest OS, Microsoft has moved the location of the icons in the taskbar and Start menu. The menus are no longer on the left, but have been shifted to the center like in the macOS dock. The left side also looks clean. On the right there is still an icon that will display information such as clock, wireless connection, and battery status. Windows 11 also features softer visuals with rounded icon corners, transparent windows and smoother animation transitions. According to Microsoft, Windows 11’s new interface is designed to make it easier for users to access, especially those with large monitors. - Various Informative Widgets
Microsoft also presents a widget feature that includes a series of informative applications, such as calendars, weather predictions, to maps. There is also a news feed widget that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to display news according to the topic of user interest, whether international politics, e-sports, local news, and others. The series of Windows 11 widgets are placed in a transparent area that can be brought up from the left side of the screen by pressing a button on the taskbar. - New Layout Snaps
The presence of the snap layout feature will help users who are accustomed to working by opening several application windows at once for multi-tasking. Snap Layout in Windows 11 brings a number of new arrangement positions, such as placing three application windows side by side, one large window with two smaller windows next to it, and more. - Higher Performance
In addition to a more modern appearance, Windows 11’s performance is also faster, both in terms of waking up from sleep, logging in Windows Hello, to browsing. Windows updates that run in the background are also promised 40 percent smaller size. Especially for gaming, Microsoft announced a new feature called Direct Storage that allows games to upload their assets directly to the graphics card, thereby shortening loading and rendering times. - Auto Game Turned So HDR
Still about games, Windows 11 will later be able to juggle non-HDR games by changing the colors and lighting so that they resemble games with HDR graphics. This automatic HDR feature has been present on Xbox consoles for a while so its implementation in Windows 11 is not surprising. Microsoft promises auto HDR will be implemented in more than 1,000 game titles, including Age of Empires Definitive Edition, Rocket League, Day Z, and Doom 64. - Can Run Android Apps
This is one of the most interesting features in Windows 11, namely the ability to run Android applications through the “Intel Bridge” compiler which is compatible with processors from both AMD and Intel. These Android applications are not integrated with the Microsoft Store, but must be downloaded from the Amazon Appstore. From there users can run it from the taskbar or the Start menu. The Android application window can even be snapped like a Windows application. - New Tablet Model
Windows 11 brings a new experience for tablet users. Once a 2-in-1 laptop is turned into a tablet, for example by removing the keyboard, the Windows 11 interface will automatically change as well. The row of icons has become larger in size with wider spacing for easier touch. The process of resizing or moving application windows is also made easier with new animations. Windows 11 also adds new navigation gestures for touchscreen devices, such as a three-finger swipe sideways to snap a window, and downwards to minimize it. Minimum Specifications To Install Windows 11 Here are the minimum spec requirements for Windows 11
• Minimum 4GB RAM • At least have 64GB storage • Minimum 1 GHz processor speed • DirectX12 compatible graphics card and Windows Display Driver Model (WWDM) 2.0 • The computer screen is at least 9 inches wide (diagonal) and supports a minimum resolution of 720p.
Windows 11 also requires the Trusted Platform Module or TPM 2.0. TPM is in the form of a chip that is installed on the motherboard to secure encryption and secure hardware from cyber attacks and booting. If not, consumers can buy TPM separately. But usually automatic TPM is available on Intel or AMD chipsets released in the last five or seven years. Intel and AMD have added TPM technology to products released since 2013. This technology on average already supports TMP 2.0.
At Intel, this technology is usually named Intel Platform Trust Technology (Intel PTT). While AMD named it AMD Platform Security Processor (AMD PSP fTPM). To check whether your laptop or computer supports TPM 2.0, you only need to type tpm.msc in the Windows 10 search field or type in the Windows+R shortcut. Users will be directed to TPM Management on Local Computer. If the status says “The TPM is ready for use”, then the device can install Windows 11.
