This tradition basically lengthens a woman&#8217;s ears to the chest by using earrings called Belaong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These earrings are usually large, shaped like a bracelet and made of copper. This tradition is carried out by Dayak women to conform to beauty standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two types of earrings used, namely hisang semhaa and hisang kavaat. Hisang semha is placed around the earlobe, while the hidang kavaat is worn around the earlobe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This tradition is only carried out by a few Dayak tribes in the interior, such as the Punan Dayak, Kelabit Dayak, Taman Dayak, Penan Dayak, and Kenyah Dayak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Kwangkey<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Kwangkey or Kuangkay is a traditional death ceremony for the Benuaq Dayak tribe in the interior of East Kalimantan. Kwangkey comes from the words ke and angkey. Ke means to do or carry out and angkey means carcass. So, Kwangkey can be interpreted as removing the carcass. More specifically, that is to escape from all grief and end the mourning period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This traditional ceremony is carried out with the intention of honoring and glorifying the spirits of the ancestors who have died. After the implementation of this traditional ceremony, it is hoped that the spirits will find happiness and a better place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Tutang<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Tutangs are also referred to as tattoos. The Dayak people believe that tattoos are symbols of various strengths, relationships with God, the journey of life, and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before doing the tattoo procession, one must undergo certain rituals. Uniquely, this tradition can be done by both men and women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, tattoos can also be used as a marker of a person&#8217;s maturity. For men, an eggplant flower tattoo is a sign of maturity, while for women, a tedak kassa tattoo is a sign of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Gantar Dance<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dayak tribe in East Kalimantan has a distinctive dance called the Gantar Dance. This dance is a social dance of the Dayak Benuaq and Tunjung tribes in West Kutai Regency. Islam is also embraced by some Dayak tribes.
